Dressing Your Baby For Winter
- Layers are always a good choice because you will have the option to remove clothing for when you are in the car or in an environment where the temperature is a bit warmer
- Hat and mittens are a must to keep the cold air off the baby. Always carry extra mittens in case the first pair gets lost. A warm blanket to wrap around them is also suitable
- When you go indoors, take at least one layer off the baby so that they do not get too warm
- Large and bulky jackets and coats are not recommended when the child is in their car seat. You should also avoid placing blankets between the car seat and the child; the straps of the car seat should be snug. Instead, dress your baby in clothes that will still allow the straps to go between their legs and then adjust the straps to accommodate the extra layers. Make sure the straps are nice and snug. You can place a blanket over them once they are safely strapped into the car seat.
